Lake Wallowa Vacation

We got back late last night from our Lake Wallowa vacation. We left Friday after work and headed to Oasis, Washington. I think that is the name of the place. It is basically a little restaurant and campsite at the bottom of a big canyon on the Grande Ronde River. We stayed in two little cabins the first night. Grandma Knight (Debbie) had one cabin and we had the other cabin. We didn't get there until late. We went right to sleep and then got up early the next day for breakfast at Boggans. That is the one little business there. They had a lot of bikers in because they were having a biker rally in Joseph, Oregon. We then left for our campsite in Troy. We set up camp and went for a walk. The walk turned into a very, very, very long and hot hike. Aaron was our fearless leader and we saw turkeys and bear scat. We never did see a bear. I was so hot and tired by the time we reached our goal (the bridge) I drank right out of the river and made a scarf from Debbie's shirt which we had wet to keep Arthur cool. I think that first day we had tacos for dinner and explored the little one room school house. It is reportedly the smallest school district in the state with six students. We all liked their pump merry-go-round. You power it by pushing up and down on a pump. I can't remember what else we did that first day. I know on the way over we stopped at the Lewis and Clark Park. That is a nice park outside of Dayton.
